Kenny Chesney

For my Birthday this last year Joey gave me tickets to see Kenny Chesney in concert.

It was so perfect because we have been trying to get Joeys sister up here for a concert forever.

It was so hot that day and the concert started at 5:30, so basically we all baked in the sun. Kenny come out just as the sun was going down...fitting seeing how he sings "everything gets hotter when the sun goes down.." What a blast!

SNOWBIRD

Joey and I really wanted to do something fun to celebrate our one year Anniversary. Taking so much time off earlier this month for the death of Joey’s Grandma we decided to stay close and just get away for a relaxing weekend up at Snowbird. It was the perfect little getaway, that weekend they had a music festival going on so we were lucky to enjoy great music everywhere we went. We had this great view of the mountains from our balcony, we just opened the doors and let the nice weather and good music flow in…ah, it was heavenly.

We spent the first night playing on the Zipline, Alpine Slide and running around Snowbird enjoying the festival. That evening we went back to the room where I was surprised with a bottle of wine, fruit basket and a certificate for a couples massage arranged for the following day. The best part of the gift was Joey explaining to me that the paper the certificate was made from represented the “Traditional One Year Anniversary Gift”. He also covered all of his bases by giving me a little keychain clock for the modern version. I love when Joey does things that reminds me of why I love him.

Poor Joey had to deal with trying to have fun and be romantic with his broken hand in a big blue cast. I even offered to carry his sled for him, however he stubbornly declined my offer.
Look at that face...I promise he was having a good time8)
The next morning we went out to breakfast before heading off for our couples massage, it was so relaxing. We spent most of the day taking advantage of the spa amenities and playing in the pool. It was a good end to the first year and a great beginning for the year ahead of us.

1 YEAR DOWN...

Last Sunday Joey and I celebrated our first Wedding Anniversary!!!
It's crazy how fast that first year goes. It is a little sad to think that the “honeymoon stage” is over but we are both really excited to see what this next year will bring.

Yet Another Hockey Injury!

Monday during Joey’s Hockey game he was hit in the back of the head by another players stick…leading him to rebuttal and a fight broke out (this is after all hockey we are talking about). Needless to say the fight ended with yet another injury. This time it's not a tooth or a gash to his lovely face, but a broken hand. The last few days have been trips to the Urgent Care, X-rays and seeing a specialist.
This will be Joey’s new friend for the next few weeks. Sorry love...no hockey for awhile. Don’t worry I insisted that he upgrade to the water proof cast so that it was hinder him from having a good time on our Anniversary weekend.

Virginia Getaway

The reason that we went to Virginia was primarily to assist/attend Joey’s Grandma’s funeral, however because the plane tickets were so expensive and we rarely make it out to visit the rest of Joey’s family we thought that we would stay for ten days and really make a getaway out of it.

While we were visiting we kind of bounced around to make sure that we were able to spend time with all of Joey’s family. The first couple of days we stayed at the Sheehan home. They had the most beautiful yard as you can see.
One of the Jobs that Joey had while there was to get all the boys ready for the funeral. He did a great job...considering the fact that he was using the horse clippers.
What would a vacation be without hanging out at the pool?!
Another cool thing about the house that we stayed at was the bees. Joey's aunt and uncle are bee keepers and we got to see what it was all about. Kinda cool!
This was Joey's uncle (Bob McDonnell) leaving the family events...what a sweet ride.

Party Boys!
We were staying so close to DC that we took one day and did a little site seeing.

We also stayed in this little river sack or “beach house” as the family called it. It was a little bit of a shock after spending so much time at the Sheehan home, however the place really grows on you and we ended up having a blast at the beach and catching crabs and jelly fish in the water.
The reason for the visit was a sad one...yet it was great to visit with family again!

Gardner Funeral

Joey’s Grandma Gardner passed away from an enlarged heart this last month. The entire family went out to Virginia for the most beautiful viewing and funeral.
Joey’s uncle Bob McDonnall (Attorney General and also running for Governor of VA) arranged a huge police escort for the funeral attendees.
The funeral music was all done by bagpipes, talk about powerful!! The highlight for me was when Joey’s Grandpa stood to sign one last song to his wife..how lucky she was to be so loved by so many.

Happy 1st Birthday Gabi!

This weekend we celebrated my God Daughter’s first Birthday. It was a lot of fun getting together with everyone for a little BBQ and some Lasso Golf.
The "perfect" gift
I love when I am more excited over giving someone a gift then the person receiving it actually gets.
Joey went to help me pick out a gift for Gabi, normally it is like pulling teeth to get any kind of input from him but this time he got pretty excited over the Fisher Price mail box set he found. I don’t know that Gabi thought it was the best gift in the world, but at least they won’t forget who gave it to her. It was so cute to see how excited Joey got as they were opening up his prize find.

I love my mail man8)
