Marine Poem.

As you all know Blake is still at Boot Camp training away to be a U.S. Marine. We are all missing him like crazy! It is so fun to hear all the letters that Blake has sent everyone. We have been talking about setting him up a Blog of his own so we can post all the letters and comments for everyone to read while he is away. In the meantime I thought that I would share a poem that I sent him. Enjoy!

My Brother “the Marine”

I see strength, I see courage, in this future marine.
As his sister I will wait offering a shoulder to lean.

Training hard, up at dusk and down at dawn
He's becoming a man building brains and gaining brawn

You making Squad Leader has made me so proud.
With courage and ambition you have been endowed.

He will always love home, but must put those thoughts behind.
For a new life as a soldier he has set out to find.

I selfishly wish this war would just end.
They can't send him away; he's my Brother, my friend.

So train him for now and teach him well,
Give him life experience and good stories to tell.

I know he has set out to do something great,
The life of a soldier is set in his fate.

This is what he wants and he should stand proud.
Fight for it brother, fight hard and loud!

A great man you will become, showing courage and strength.
Giving your life, no matter the length.

Although training's only three months, I miss you so dear.
The thought of you gone even longer fills me with fear.

Can't wait for you to finish and put down your canteen
At your graduation, I will stand to meet my brother,
"The Marine"

Love you Blake!!
