Cheers!!!

So here they are…..pictures from the New Years Eve PARTY at my house!!! I’m less than proud of some of these picture, YIKES!!!
I love my girls!!!

The night started with food, drinks, Janga and some NHL 09’ on the XBOX….next thing you know we are rolling around in the snow and dancing around. I think I went to bed around 7:00AM.. good times!

The one thing I can say about 2008 is that it was a great year for relationships…not only did I get a new hubby but I made some really great friends in and out of work. I can’t wait to see what great things 2009 will bring!

My first TAMPURA adventure!!

Due to a certain small kitchen fire...the one that haunts my dreams...I have always been reluctant to make anything that requires a deep frying process. Thanks to my friend Cassie and our weekly dinner night, I was encouraged to give it a try and make all kinds of random fried foods. I was incredible proud of my bravery even though it was in someone else’s home….and I was constantly under supervision.

Since the tempura adventure, I have made fried stuffed mushrooms and sweet and sour chicken. My mom would be proud!!!

It must have been good because immediately following dinner Joey passed out on the couch!

One at a time....I didn't want to get toooo crazy!!! Cassie did make dinner that night...don't think that we just ate an assortment of fried foods. Thanks Cassie you are awesome!!

Looking back at 2008!!!

January – 2008 started with a lot of big changes, I was promoted at work and started working in the Exposition field as an Exhibitor Service Rep. Joey also made a big carrier move and quit his job as a manager for a granite company and started working for the United States Postal Services as a mail carrier. It was really hard for him in the beginning because Joey is so use to working really hard and moving his way up in a company. Joey has made manager in almost every job that he has worked for and he has always been recognized for his awesome work ethic. Working for the Union he has had to get use working with equal employment rights and not being able to move up as fast as he would like.

Making these carrier changes has been really great and it defiantly has had its perks. With the way the economy has been I’m really glad that we made the decision when we did.

February- This is always a big month for us, we have Joey’s Birthday, Valentines and the anniversary of us getting together (this year was eight years). It’s always about this time of the year when I get really sick of being cold and putting up with all the bad weather, however with everything that we have going on in this month it always turns out to be the most romantic month for us and that helps heat things up!

March- I can’t think of a lot that went on in March I think that I was working too much to do much of anything else.

April- We had a lot going on in April Joey’s little brother was getting married and we were both in the wedding party. Being a bridesmaid in the wedding for my future sister-in-law I really wanted to be involved as much as I could, I set my own wedding planning aside for this month and helped her out. I hosted a bridal shower at my house complete with food, drinks, décor, and a male anatomy cake fight. With this I was also an emotional wreck because of the bachelor party that Joey was attending (gulp!!). With everything going on I still had to stay focused at work because I had a big show in Vegas that month as well.

May- The Bowers family had two weddings in the same year and we all knew that it was going to have its challenges, to help Sonia out and not take anything away from her I stopped my own wedding planning and turned my focus to them; I didn’t want it to all become a big wedding blur. It turned out to be a good thing and I really enjoyed their wedding. After seeing their wedding I was excited about my own that was coming up. My favorite part this month was getting our engagement pictures taken, I really loved our photographer and the location that he picked for us. June- This is one of my favorite months because it’s my birthday!!! This year we had a lot going on with the upcoming event s and the wedding was draining the wallet but Joey insisted that we have a party and celebrate. It turned out to be on the same night as a big UFC fight so we had to combine the two events. I bet you can guess who ended up doing all the food preparation and cleaning. Never the less it was a blast!

With only one Month away the wedding preparation was still the biggest memory for June. I had my bridals and lots of last minute prepping going on….lots of pre-wedding stress! It wasn’t all that bad thanks to all the great people in my life that helped make it fun. We had lots of parties planned and they all turned out great! Joey and I had a joined bachelor and bachelorette party and we rented the La Bus and packed it full of all our friends and family and headed out to Wendover to party. We ended up not having any time to gamble because after eating at the buffet we headed to the strip club and had so much fun that we ended up staying for five hours. Thanks Josh it was an awesome party!!!

I had two bridal showers this month and that really got me excited for the wedding. My friends from work planned a really fun shower and they all went in on some great gifts. My Mom and Joey’s sister Linda had also planned a big shower and I was so amazed at how many people came and how generous everyone was. I really am so lucky to have such amazing people in my life.

July- Finally the wedding!!! I became a Bowers this month! I can’t even really remember the fourth or the twenty-fourth of July because all I can remember was my dream wedding and the amazing honeymoon in Los Cabos that followed. I couldn’t have asked for anything better and it was definitely the high point of 2008!

August- This month brought a lot of change to my family, I was finally a Bowers after eight years of dating, my little brother Blake left to California and started in his journey in becoming a US Marine, Tyson was going into High school and Jake Jr. High. I don’t know how my Mom kept up with all that was going on around her.

This month we also added another addition to the fam. and bought a new puppy! We wanted to get a new friend for Puck. After leaving her alone when we went on our honeymoon I felt really bad and so we set out to find another small doggy. We were so glad when we found Chevy; he is such a doll and a great addition to our house.

September- Things started to settle down and we finally got to relax a bit. The summer went really fast with everything going on and we were already taking down the pool and getting ready for the cold weather. We were able to sneak one last camping trip to Manti in and that is always fun.

October- This was a fun month; Joey went deer hunting with his brother-in-law and took a four point down on the first shot. We made lots of yummy jerky….yummy! I’m so proud that my husband can put food on the table.

Being the new wife that I am, I decided that I wanted to start learning how to cook better and thought that getting together with some of our other couple friends once a week would be a lot of fun and a great way to learn new recipes. We have had dinner night with our friends ever since, it’s a blast!

Blake graduated from Boot camp and we all went out to show our support! It was so amazing to see all of the new Marines and their selflessness to serve our country, I was so proud. Blake will make a great Marine. While we were there we needed to take advantage of the vacation so we all went to Sea World and the Beach. I love Cali!

November- When I think of November I think of family! This year I decided that I wanted to help cook the dinner for Thanksgiving and went to help my Grandma with the preparation. I arrived at 8:00am and we cooked all day long. It was so fun and dinner turned out great! Joey played in the annual turkey bowl and I was very thankful to get him back in one piece.

I started my Christmas shopping by partaking in the “black Friday adventure”. Joey’s sister got me hooked on the rush and I am now one of those crazy shoppers that get up at three in the morning and shops all day. I did get some good deals but I really think that I just like the rush.

December- CHRISTMAS & TIME OFF WORK!!! I always love Christmas and this year was no different. We had a great Christmas Eve party at my Grandma’s house follow by Christmas at our house. It was a great end to 2008!
