So everyone has heard that dogs HATE the Mail Man, I never thought that it was true until Joey started working for the USPS. I would say once a week Joey comes home with a dog story. You would be amazed at the things that Joey has had to go through to avoid a dog attach. Dogs have chased him around bushes, over fences and into his truck. Dogs have come at him from the backyard, down the street and even from inside their house. He is constantly having dog owners telling him that their dog is nice and they don’t know why it attacked.
Last week Joey had a dog run at him from behind so he quickly dropped his satchel (man bag) off his shoulder and blocked himself. The dog latched on the bag with his teeth and started to thrash it about. Now, Joey does have mace and is told to use it when he finds himself in these situations, however, the mace was inside the satchel where he had no chance of getting it. So, what is it with the battle between Mail Man and dogs? I heard it’s because of the uniform, all the different smells on the mail. Is this hate bread into them?
So dog owners let this be a warning, even if you have a “nice dog” keep them in the backyard or inside your home. Remember if your dog poses a threat to a USPS Carrier they will hold delivery on your mail and you will have to start picking it up at the Post Office.

I know your family are all dog lovers. So is Brads family. But, boy do I hate dogs! They attacked me before I ever worked for the USPS. I swear I am going to call animal control one of these days on one of the crazy dogs on my route. It's always the same mean ones, too. It's really not the dogs fault, though, it's the owners. Keep your wild animals under control and don't let them terrorize the neighborhood! Geez!!
